North Haven Education Association

The North Haven Education Association is composed of over 300 educational professionals dedicated to the school and local community in North Haven, Connecticut. The North Haven Education Association is a professional organization which advocates for adequate resources and a qualified staff in order to meet the needs of all students and provide an excellent public school education. With a primary focus of advocating excellence in education, the NHEA works deligently with teachers, parents, local and state political leaders, affiliates and community members to create a positive and challenging educational community.

The NHEA is affiliated at the state level with the Connecticut Education Association (CEA). The CEA was formed in 1848 with the objective to organize teachers for the improvement of the profession and local public schools. Today, at their headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut, CEA is composed of members from K-12 public schools, retired teachers and college students preparing to enter the teaching profession. CEA actively lobbies for pro-education legislation at the state and federeal levels, advances and protects the rights of teachers and works with state policymakers to continue to elevate the teaching profession and to promote public education. The NHEA is also affiliated at the national level with the National Education Association (NEA). The NEA was formed in 1857 when one hundred educators came together as one voice for public education. The NEA is the voice of educational professionals with the mission to advocate for education professionals and to unite members and the nation to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world.
